WILLIAMSPORT - Betty Jane (Border) Wheeler, 81, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at Rose View Center, Williamsport.

She was born in Williamsport on June 29, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Lincoln and Helen (Lusk) Border.

She was married to the late James Wheeler, until his death in 1987. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School. She had worked as an executive secretary for Baltimore Life, had owned a grocery store with her husband, and finished her working years at Weiss. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church, Williamsport. She enjoyed gardening, animals, reading, and followed the space programs.

She is survived by one sister; Eleanor Ardrey of Williamsport, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; George Border and Eugene Border Sr.; and two sisters; Irene and Doris Border.

The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday June 26, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Williamsport, 420 Elmira St., with the Reverend Dr. Robert L. Manzinger officiating the service. There will be a visitation from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
